Young Biologists' Association

The Young Biologists' Association (YBA) of Sri Lanka, founded in 1998 by the Institute of Biology, is a leading organization dedicated to promoting the study of Biology, environmental conservation, and sustainable living among the youth of Sri Lanka. YBA provides a dynamic and practical platform for young people interested in environmental sciences by organizing field excursions, study groups, and research projects, all aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world.

As part of its commitment to supporting students, particularly those preparing for the G.C.E. Advanced Level, YBA offers lectures, exhibitions, and short courses designed to supplement formal education with practical knowledge. The association also leads various conservation initiatives, contributing to the protection and restoration of Sri Lanka’s diverse ecosystems.

YBA’s mission is to nurture the next generation of biologists and environmental stewards, instilling in them a commitment to biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management. Through its activities and programs, the association continues to play a crucial role in promoting environmental awareness and responsible living among the country’s youth.
